Yes! The sessions are absolutely confidential. Whatever we discuss during the session is not shared with anyone. The sessions are not recorded. The only record maintained will be my written session notes, which are kept securely and will not be shared with anyone.
There are a few situations where confidentiality may need to be broken:
Risk of harm: If there is a risk of you harming yourself or someone else, I may have to contact the emergency number that you have provided to ensure your safety and well-being. Wherever possible, this will be discussed with you before any step is taken.
Supervision: I take supervision to ensure that my practice remains thoughtful, ethical, and supportive. This helps me provide the best possible care for my clients. During supervision, aspects of client work may be discussed for guidance and reflection, while taking care to maintain your privacy and confidentiality.
Ongoing abuse or legal obligations: In situations involving ongoing abuse, or where there is a legal obligation to report, confidentiality may need to be broken. This will always be handled with care, sensitivity, and transparency.
